Accept Yourself, I Dare You I dare you to like yourself, as you are, for one full day. Would it really be so bad to like yourself (love, if you want) for a 24 hour period? Afterward, you can go back to self-loathing if that is more comfortable. You can go back to making yourself into the illusory image you have of yourself. I guarantee you won't forget how to dislike yourself. As a therapist, I see so many people who suffer because they can't accept themselves. And, even those who wish to like themselves, are afraid to. They take off their shoes at the beach, pull off their socks, stick a half a toe in the water, and pull back for fear of drowning. Drowning in what? That's a good question to ask yourself. It's an epidemic, this not accepting yourself as-is. You don't have to like everything about yourself, just acknowledge what is TRUE and practice relaxing into it. Swim in it! There are many techniques out there to help people accomplish this, but I often do things when someone dares me to. So, I dare you!
